It is already the fourth time Kaunas technical vocational education center has joined the European Commission’s European Vocational Skills Week which gives a unique opportunity for all educational and training institutions, business enterprises, and organizations to remind the public of all the benefits brought by vocational training.
Paying attention to the situation worldwide, Kaunas technical vocational education center organized an International distance contest of professional excellence, ,,Joiner 2020”. In the November 10th contest, there were 10 participating students who have been studying joiner’s (furniture maker’s) vocational training program: Aurimas Stankevičius from Kaunas Applied Art school (Lithuania), Povilas Demikis from Kaunas technical vocational education center (Lithuania), Eimantas Meškauskas from Klaipėda Ernestas Galvanauskas Vocational training center (Lithuania), Paulius Klimašauskas from Marijampolės VET center (Lithuania), Danielius Jerusalimskis from Vilnius Builders Training Centre (Lithuania), Jakub Novotny from Střední odborná škola Luhačovice – oficiální profil (Czech Republic), Kuldar Vanda from Rakvere Ametikool (Estonia), Niks Petrovs from Aizkraukles Profesionālā vidusskola (Latvia), Jānis Švēde from Jelgavas Tehnikums (Latvia), Kārlis Spruksts from Vidzemes Tehnoloģiju un dizaina tehnikums (Latvia).

Later on students carried out the practical task- to produce a box from the given billets. All the materials and billets were sent to each participating school beforehand. Final products are being evaluated according to the set of evaluation criteria written in contest regulations. The influential evaluation committee will assess product quality, assembling abilities, the technological performance of work, and organization of the workplace.
